MT5 Series Utility
The MT5 is LS Tractor's heavy-duty utility platform at 73 gross horsepower, distinct from the MT4 series by its larger chassis, heavier 3-point hitch, and 20-speed transmission. The series includes the factory-cab MT573C and MT573CPS models, as well as the earlier MT5.73 designation for the same platform. The MT5 is built for operators running large implements — hay balers, large-diameter rotary cutters, ground-engaging tillage tools, and high-capacity loaders — who want the cab comfort and all-season capability that ROPS tractors can't provide.
L4C25-T Engine — 73 HP, 62 PTO HP
The MT5 uses the same LS L4C25-T 4-cylinder turbocharged engine as the MT473, rated at 73 HP gross and 62.0 PTO HP — 0.9 HP more at the PTO than the MT473 (62.9 HP) due to the MT5's heavier drivetrain efficiency. The 26.4 gallon fuel tank is larger than the MT4's 24.3 gallon tank, extending operating time during long hay days and full-day field work. Engine rated speed is 2,500 RPM.
- •L4C25-T: 73 HP gross, 62.0 PTO HP, 4-cylinder turbocharged
- •152.9 cu in displacement, Tier 4 Final compliant
- •26.4 gallon fuel tank — greater field endurance than MT4
- •2,500 RPM rated engine speed
- •PTO: Independent, 540 / 750 / 1,000 RPM — full implement range
F20×R20 Synchro or Power Shuttle
The MT5 transmission provides 20 forward and 20 reverse gears — four more speeds than the MT4's 16×16 gearbox — giving finer ground speed control for precision implement matching. The CPS variant adds Power Shuttle with a creep gear, which drops ground speed to crawl pace for applications requiring extremely slow, controlled movement such as transplanting, seeding, or close-quarters loader work. A hand clutch button on the gear lever enables seamless gear changes.
- •F20×R20 transmission — 20 forward gears vs MT4's 16
- •CPS (Power Shuttle with creep): extra-low ground speed option
- •Hand clutch on gear lever enables smooth gear changes under load
- •Ground speed range: 0.11 to 19.4 mph
- •Synchro Shuttle on MT573C, Power Shuttle on MT573CPS
Heavy-Duty Hitch — 6,614 lb Lift
The MT5's Cat II 3-point hitch lifts 6,614 lbs at the hitch end — nearly double the MT4's 3,483 lb capacity and nearly triple what typical compact tractors achieve. This makes the MT5 capable of running large Category II implements including wide rotary cutters, heavy subsoilers, and bale spears without hitch overloading. Three pairs of front and rear remote valves are standard, covering the full hydraulic implement range.
- •Cat II 3-point hitch: 6,614 lb lift — nearly 2× the MT4 Series
- •Total hydraulic flow: 19.8 GPM (13.2 implement + 6.6 steering)
- •3 pairs front + 3 pairs rear remote valves standard
- •Position and draft control standard
- •Loader LL6100: 3,364 lb lift capacity
Premium Factory Cab
The MT5 is only available in factory cab configuration, reflecting its positioning as a serious all-season work platform. The cab includes A/C and heat, a flat rubber-mat floor platform, side mirrors, front wiper and washer, and interior lighting. The premium suspension seat with armrests keeps operators comfortable across long workdays. The flat platform and ergonomic layout — including fender-mounted loader joystick — reduce fatigue during repetitive tasks.
- •Factory cab standard — A/C, heat, front wiper and washer
- •Premium suspension seat with armrests
- •Flat platform with rubber mat for spacious operator area
- •Fender-mounted joystick for front loader control
- •Side mirrors and interior lighting standard
